Dropzones & Item Gravity

Widgets that dock where the game's HUD lives

Some spots on the screen are made for a widget: three slots on each side of the hotbar for your armor and the items in your hands, the screen edges for the scoreboard, the line above the hotbar for the action bar. Drop a widget there and it stays docked. Item Gravity lets the items fall down into empty slots, so your armor never has gaps.

  • Armor and both hands sit next to the hotbar by default
  • Six item slots, three on each side of the hotbar
  • Scoreboard on the left or right edge of the screen
  • Spots for Health, Saturation, Action Bar, Boss Bar and Title
  • Spots at the crosshair for Block Break Progress and Damage Direction
  • Item Gravity is on by default

When a piece is about to break, the Durability Warning of the Inventory mod lets you know.

Item Gravity: the chestplate comes off and the helmet and totem slide down, without the leggings the sword drops too.
Label Formatting

Style every label the way you read it best

Every text widget has a label, a value and the brackets around them, each in a color of your own. Pick one of ten formats, from [FPS] 143 to FPS: 143 or just the value. On the right side of the screen the format flips, so the values line up at the edge. A background box with your own padding and rounded corners keeps text readable on snow.

  • Ten formats, [Label] Value by default
  • Own colors for label, brackets and value
  • Background with color, padding, margin and roundness
  • Line height from 50 to 150 %
  • Mirror Formatting on the right side of the screen
  • Your own label text, up to 32 characters
  • One click applies a style to every widget
The settings of the FPS widget: FPS: and FPS » as formats, then a background. The preview and the HUD follow right away.

Waila

Know what you are looking at

Waila (What Am I Looking At) shows the block or mob under your crosshair: its name and icon, the tool you need, how far a crop has grown or the delay of a repeater. For mobs you see their health and a villager's job with its level.

  • Name, icon and the tool you need for the drops
  • Crop growth, redstone power, repeater delay, comparator mode
  • Destroy progress while you mine
  • Health of mobs and players
  • Villager profession and level
  • Optional: Laby friends and a player's Laby group
  • Tooltip background, your own or none
Wheat at 57 %, iron ore that needs a stone pickaxe and shows the mining progress, a repeater on delay 3, a zombie and a librarian.
Light Level & Targeted Block

Find the dark spots and the exact block

Light Level shows how bright it is where you stand, from 0 to 15, so you find the dark corners where mobs can spawn before they do. Targeted Block shows the coordinates of the block under your crosshair, handy for builds, farms and telling a friend where to dig.

  • Light Level: 0 to 15, right where you stand
  • Targeted Block: X, Y and Z of the block you look at
  • Targeted Block only shows while you look at a block
  • Both are text widgets, so every style option works

Rather see in the dark than measure it? Fullbright lights every block.

Away from the torch the Light Level drops to 0, a new torch brings it back to 11. Targeted Block shows the block under the crosshair.
Phone HUD

Your widgets on your phone, as a second screen

With External Devices switched on, the Laby app shows your HUD widgets on your phone, right next to your keyboard. It finds your PC on the same network by itself, you confirm the pairing once in game, and from then on every text widget updates four times a second. Your monitor is left to the game.

  • Off until you switch on External Devices
  • Finds your PC on the same network, no server in between
  • Accept once in game, after that it reconnects by itself
  • The same account in the app and in the game
  • Every text widget, addon widgets too, even ones you did not place
  • Updates four times a second
The first time, the game asks once whether your phone may connect.

Questions and answers

How do I show my coordinates in Minecraft?

Press Right Shift for the Mods menu of the Laby Client, search for Coordinates and drag its tile onto the screen. It shows X, Y and Z on three lines or on one, with decimals if you want them, and can add your compass heading and the biome.

How do I show my FPS in Minecraft?

Press Right Shift for the Mods menu of the Laby Client and drag the FPS tile into a corner of the screen. If the number is lower than you would like, have a look at Performance & Dynamic FPS.

How do I open the HUD editor?

Press Right Shift while you play and click Edit HUD Widgets. The key is called Widget Editor Key in the hotkey settings, where you can pick another one. In the editor you drag widgets, select several with Shift or Ctrl click, and right click one for its settings.

Is there an armor HUD and a potion HUD?

Yes, and both are on by default. Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings and Boots are four item widgets next to your hotbar, each with its durability as a bar, in percent or as remaining and maximum. Potion Effects lists your effects with the time they have left.

Does the Laby Client have a CPS counter and keystrokes?

The CPS widget is built in and counts your left and right clicks per second, on one line or two. Keystrokes are not one of the built-in widgets; you can add them as an addon from the addon store.

Which Minecraft versions and servers do the HUD widgets work on?

Your own client draws them, on Minecraft 1.8.9 up to the latest release. A few need a newer game: Off Hand from 1.9, Totem Pops and Totem Animation from 1.11 and CPU Temperature from 1.17. Servers can switch off some of them, like the potion and armor HUD.
