Laby Chat, the Minecraft friends chatOne chat. In game, launcher and app.

Write to your friends while you play, read the answer on your phone, pick it up in the launcher. Every message, reaction and read receipt is there everywhere, at the same time.

Everywhere

Start in game, answer on the bus

Laby Chat runs on one connection for all your devices. A message you send in the game is on your phone a moment later, a reaction from the app shows up in the launcher, and what you read on one device counts as read on all of them.

  • Laby Client, Laby Launcher, the app for iOS and Android, and laby.net
  • Read state and unread counts follow you
  • Group chats and parties on every device
  • Your friends list is the same everywhere

The connection that keeps your devices in sync also lets other players see your emotes in game. Writing in a Minecraft server's chat instead? Chat Tools add Ctrl+F, tabs and AutoText to it.

  • Laby Client

Chat without leaving the game, in the design of laby.net and the app.

  • Laby Launcher

Pick up the conversation before you even start Minecraft.

  • Laby app

Answer from your phone, on iOS and Android.

  • laby.net

The whole chat in your browser, on any computer.

Messages

Everything you expect from a chat

The Laby Chat was redesigned to match laby.net and the app: read receipts, six reactions, replies with a quote, GIFs, emotes and emoji, images and group chats with avatars built from your friends' faces.

  • Read receipts on your own messages
  • Reactions: Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Fire
  • Reply to any message with a quote
  • GIFs, emoji and emotes in the picker
  • Send images
  • Groups: rename, add members, hand over ownership

Global Parties

A party that follows you around

Start a global party and your friends come with you: change the server and they get a prompt to follow, joining on their own after ten seconds. Open your singleplayer world and it is shared with the party, so they follow you into that too. The party has its own chat until it ends.

  • Follow automatically after a 10 second countdown
  • Into your singleplayer world, too
  • You plus 3 friends for free, up to 16 with Laby+
  • Join by invite or with a code like ABCD-EFGH
  • Its own party chat

Your party can play in your singleplayer world too: World Sharing opens it to them, no server needed.

Invitations

Invitations right in the chat

Party, world, server and minigame invitations arrive as cards in the conversation. Accept or decline them there, see when one has expired or was withdrawn, and if an invitation fails, the chat tells you why.

  • Party, singleplayer world, local server, server and duel
  • Waiting, accepted, declined, withdrawn or expired
  • A failed invitation says what went wrong

Chat Minigames

Twelve games, right in the chat

Play alone or challenge a friend, in games built from Minecraft blocks. Six solo games and six duels, with resign, draw offers and a rematch button. No friend online? Duel the practice bot.

  • Solo: Snake, Tetris, 2048, Laby Bird, Stack, Breakout
  • Duels: Tic Tac Toe, Connect Four, Reversi, Chess, Battleship, Rock Paper Scissors
  • Against a friend or the practice bot
  • Resign, offer a draw, rematch

Questions and answers

Can I chat with my Minecraft friends on my phone?

Yes. Laby Chat is the same chat in the Laby Client, the Laby Launcher, the Laby app for iOS and Android and on laby.net. Messages, reactions and read receipts show up on every device.

Do my friends need the Laby Client to chat with me?

They need a Laby account. They can chat from the Laby Client, the launcher, the app or laby.net, whichever they have at hand.

What is a global party?

A temporary group whose members follow the host from server to server, even into the host's singleplayer world. When the host changes servers, everyone gets a prompt and follows automatically after ten seconds. The party has its own chat until it ends.

How many players can join a party?

A party holds the host and three friends for free. With Laby+ it grows to 16 players.

Which games can I play in the chat?

Six solo games (Snake, Tetris, 2048, Laby Bird, Stack and Breakout) and six duels (Tic Tac Toe, Connect Four, Reversi, Chess, Battleship and Rock Paper Scissors). Duels work against a friend or the practice bot.

Is Laby Chat free?

Yes. Chatting, groups, parties and minigames are free. Laby+ only makes parties bigger.
