Minecraft PvP ModsSee every hit. Hear every kill.

Hit markers for every hit the server confirms, a sound for every kill, totem pops counted on name tags and a HUD that keeps score.

Recorded in the Laby Client: hit markers and the Reach Display
Hit Markers

Know the hit landed, right at your crosshair

A small mark flashes at your crosshair every time the server confirms a hit: white for a hit, gold for a critical hit, red for the kill. Hits the server swallowed never show up, so you learn your real timing instead of guessing.

  • Diagonal cross, straight cross or ring
  • Size 2 to 16, gap 0 to 10, thickness 1 to 3
  • Shows for 2 to 20 ticks, with an optional fade
  • Can scale with the distance to your target
  • Players and mobs, or players only
  • Optional for projectile hits and in third person
  • Hit sound: 15 presets or any sound ID

Long bow shots are easier with Zoom on C.

Kill Sounds

A sound for every kill, and one for the win

Every kill gets a sound, so you know the fight is over without reading the chat. Give melee, bow, fishing rod and thrown item kills a sound of their own, and add a win sound that plays when the victory title comes up.

  • Experience orb by default, or any sound ID
  • Own sound for melee, bow, fishing rod and thrown items
  • Volume (80 by default) and pitch from 50 to 200 %
  • Optional for mob kills
  • Can also detect kills from chat messages
  • Win sound on titles like "VICTORY", keywords up to you

Low Health Warning

Feel it when your health gets low

When your health drops below a threshold, the edges of the screen turn red. Turn on the heartbeat and you hear it too: the lower your health, the faster it beats, so you notice it in the middle of a fight without looking down at your hearts.

  • Threshold from 5 to 100 % (40 % by default)
  • Screen edges or the whole screen
  • Tint in any color, intensity 70 by default
  • Optional pulse with the heartbeat
  • Can count absorption hearts
  • Heartbeat speeds up as your health drops
Below 40 % the edges turn red and pulse, healing ends it
TNT Timer

See exactly when the TNT goes off

Lit TNT gets a countdown above it that fades from green to red as the fuse burns down. Like a sneaking player's name tag, the timer hides behind blocks, so it shows you nothing you could not see anyway.

  • 0 to 2 decimals (1 by default)
  • Green to red, or one color of your choice (chroma too)
  • Optional background and shadow
  • Fuse correction from -60 to +60 ticks
  • Hidden behind blocks
  • Servers can turn it off

Team Markers

Find your teammates, even through walls

An arrow or your teammate's head floats above every player on your team, with the distance and, if you like, their name, even behind walls. That is a real advantage, so it only works on servers that allow it. In singleplayer it always works.

  • Off by default, and on servers only once the server allows it
  • Teams from scoreboard teams or name color
  • Teams of 2 to 64 players (16 by default)
  • Arrow or head, size 0.5 to 2
  • Distance like "24m", the name if you like
  • Hides teammates closer than 0 to 32 blocks (8 by default)
  • Range limit from 16 to 512 blocks
  • Team color or your own, a toggle key and the Teammate Directions widget
Recorded on a local test server that allows team markers: three players of your scoreboard team walk behind the wall, each with an arrow and how far away they are.

Shields

See when a shield is up, and when it is broken

Shields change color with their state: green while blocking, red while an axe has disabled them. You see at a glance when your opponent can be hit again. The client adds the missing block and disable sounds, and you can lower your own shield so it covers less of the screen.

  • Colors for everyone, only other players or only your shield
  • Adds the missing block and disable sounds
  • Shield height from 0 to 100 (100 is vanilla)
  • Lowered shield: normal or to the side
  • Minecraft 1.9 and newer
  • Servers can turn off the status colors

Less fire and clear glass on top of that come with Clear View.

Red while it comes up, green while it blocks, then at height 40
Attack Indicator

An attack indicator you actually notice

Since 1.9 a hit only does full damage once your weapon has charged. Pick the indicator that suits your crosshair: Minecraft, Bar, Ring or Dot, at the crosshair or the hotbar, from half to double size. It also shows item cooldowns, how far your bow is drawn and how long eating takes.

  • Styles: Minecraft, Bar, Ring and Dot
  • Position: like Minecraft, crosshair or hotbar
  • Size from 50 to 200 %
  • Cooldowns of pearls, chorus fruit and wind charges
  • Bow, crossbow and trident charge
  • Eating, drinking, breaking blocks, falling asleep
  • Sound when your attack is ready (1.9 and newer)
  • Sound when a cooldown ends

Totem Counter & Name Tags

Count every totem pop

Every time a player pops a totem, a counter on their name tag and in the player list goes up: green for the first, then yellow, gold and red from the fourth. It resets when they die, when you change servers or when you press your reset key. Name tags can also show the player's ping and get a text shadow that stays readable on snow.

  • Totem icon and number, number, minus sign and number, or "3 pops"
  • On name tags and in the player list
  • Resets on death, server change or a key
  • Hide your off-hand totem, tune the pop animation and particles
  • Ping above, below, left or right of the name, colored by ping
  • Nametag Text Shadow for bright backgrounds
  • Totems need Minecraft 1.11 or newer
  • Servers can turn off the totem counter

HUD widgets

A HUD that keeps score

The Laby Client comes with 58 HUD widgets, and these are made for fights, plus two mods for your hearts and your armor bar. Drag them anywhere in the HUD editor, next to all the other widgets.

CPS, Reach Display, Hit Color

Click Test, Range and Damage have new names

You might know them as Click Test, Range and Damage. In the Laby Client they are now called CPS, Reach Display and Hit Color. Same jobs, clearer names. Warm up with the CPS test. Rather play with the 1.7 look? Classic PvP brings back blockhitting and red armor on hits.

Fair play

Help for your fights, no cheats

The Laby Client has no killaura, no reach hacks and nothing else that fights for you. Anything that could matter for fairness is up to the server.

  • No cheats: no killaura, no reach, no aim help
  • Team Markers only work where the server allows them
  • Servers can turn off the TNT Timer, shield colors, Damage Direction and the totem counter

Questions and answers

How do I get hit markers in Minecraft?

Download the Laby Client, open the Mods menu and turn on Hit Markers. A mark appears at your crosshair for every hit the server confirms: white for a hit, gold for a critical hit and red for a kill. Style, size, colors and an optional hit sound are in its settings.

Is there a totem pop counter for Minecraft?

Yes. The Laby Client counts totem pops on name tags and in the player list, on Minecraft 1.11 and newer. The Totem Pops HUD widget shows your own pops and the totems you have left. Servers can turn the counter off.

How do I add a kill sound in Minecraft?

Turn on Kill Sounds in the Laby Client. It plays the experience orb sound by default. You can pick another sound or any sound ID, set volume and pitch, give bow, fishing rod and thrown item kills a sound of their own and add a win sound for victory titles.

Is the Laby Client allowed on PvP servers?

The Laby Client has no cheats: no killaura, no reach and no aim help. Features that could matter for fairness are in the server's hands: Team Markers stay off until a server allows them, and servers can turn off the TNT Timer, shield colors, Damage Direction and the totem counter. As always, check the rules of the server you play on.

What happened to Click Test, Range and Damage?

They were renamed. Click Test is now CPS, Range is now Reach Display and Damage is now Hit Color. You find them under their new names in the Mods menu.

Which Minecraft versions do the PvP mods work on?

They come with the Laby Client on Minecraft 1.8.9 up to the latest release. A few need a newer game: the shield features 1.9 or newer, the attack ready sound 1.9 or newer and the totem counter 1.11 or newer.
