Laby Commander, the command palette for MinecraftPress Ctrl+K. Find anything.
One search over the whole Laby Client, in every menu and in game. Find any mod, setting, friend or server, flip a switch or join a game without clicking through menus.
- Free
- Minecraft 1.8.9 to the latest release
- Windows, macOS and Linux
Search everything at once
Type a few letters and Laby Commander looks through nine places at the same time. The best matches come first, at most 6 per group and 20 in total, so one big group never buries the others. There are no prefixes or commands to learn: you just type.
- Finds settings by their path, servers by their address
- Empty search: recent picks, friends and main pages
- Online friends are listed first
- Emotes show up while you are in game
Mods
Opens the mod's options. Its on/off switch sits right on the row.
Settings
Every setting of every mod. Enter jumps straight to it.
Cosmetics
The cosmetics on your account. Wear one or take it off.
Emotes
Your emotes, played on the spot. In game only.
Friends
Online friends first. Enter opens your chat.
Minigames
Start a minigame. A duel asks: practice bot or friend?
Servers
Your saved servers, found by name or address. Enter joins.
Addons
Your installed addons, each with its switch.
Pages
The main tabs, from Multiplayer to the Wardrobe.
Do things, not just find them
Enter opens what you picked: a mod's options, a setting right where it lives, a friend's chat, a server. Rows with a switch flip with Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on a Mac) and Laby Commander stays open, so you can change five settings in a row without leaving the search.
- Ctrl+Enter or a click flips a switch
- Wear cosmetics or take them off
- Play your emotes in game
- Join a saved server
- Open a friend's chat
- A duel asks: practice bot or friend
It also puts on cosmetics and plays your emotes without opening the wheel.
A calculator in your game
Type a sum instead of a word and the answer is the top row. Enter copies it. How many items fit in a chest full of stacks? Type 64*27.
- + - * / % ^ and parentheses
- Minus signs in front of numbers
- Comma or dot as the decimal mark
- "12*4+2" answers 50
- Dates and version ranges rank below results
- Enter copies the result
A version range like 1.8-1.21 is rarely meant as a subtraction, so its answer waits below the search results and Enter opens the first result instead.
Five keys do everything
Nothing to learn by heart: the hint line at the bottom of Laby Commander shows the keys while you search. Esc puts you back exactly where you were, the screen below never closes.
- Cmd instead of Ctrl on macOS
- Works in menus and in game
Ctrl+K searches the client. To search the chat itself, press Ctrl+F with the chat open: Chat Tools.

Not for you? One switch turns it off
Laby Commander sits on Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on macOS). If you need that combination for something else, open the Mods menu, pick Hotkeys under Settings and switch off Laby Commander, the last switch on the page.
- On from the start
- Settings › Hotkeys, the last switch
- Off also hides the Ctrl + K hint in the mods search

Questions and answers
Is there a command palette for Minecraft?
Yes. The Laby Client has one built in, Laby Commander: press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on macOS) in any menu or in game and start typing. One list shows matching mods, settings, cosmetics, emotes, friends, minigames, saved servers, addons and pages.
How do I search all settings in Minecraft?
Open Laby Commander with Ctrl+K and type part of the setting's name, like "sound" or "zoom". Every setting of every mod is in the list with its path underneath, and Enter jumps right to it. On/off settings flip with Ctrl+Enter without leaving the search.
Can I turn mods on and off without opening the mods menu?
Yes. Search the mod and press Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on a Mac), or click the switch on its row. Laby Commander stays open, so you can flip several mods and settings in a row.
Does Laby Commander work while I play?
Yes. Ctrl+K works from anywhere, in game too, and Esc puts you straight back into the game. While you are in a world you can also play your emotes from it.
Can it do math?
Yes. Type a sum like 12*4+2 and the top row shows 50. It knows + - * / % ^, parentheses and minus signs, takes a comma or a dot as the decimal mark, and Enter copies the result.
How do I turn off Ctrl+K in the Laby Client?
Open the Mods menu, go to Hotkeys and switch off Laby Commander under Advanced. Ctrl+K then no longer opens it. Switch it back on whenever you want it again.
