Experience math, solved
Convert experience levels into points and back with Minecraft's exact non-linear formulas, calculate the XP needed between any two levels - including how many Bottles o' Enchanting that is - and check common XP sources. Indispensable for planning enchanting sessions, XP farms and /xp commands.

Frequently asked questions
- How much XP is level 30?
- Reaching level 30 from zero takes 1,395 experience points. Level 50 takes 5,345 and level 100 already 30,970 - the cost curve is steeply non-linear.
- Why do higher levels cost so much more?
- Minecraft uses three formulas: through level 16 each level costs 2n+7 points, up to 31 it's 5n-38, beyond that 9n-158. The per-level cost therefore keeps climbing - level 39 to 40 alone costs 193 points.
- How much XP does a Bottle o' Enchanting give?
- Each thrown bottle yields 3-11 points, 7 on average. The calculator uses that average to translate any XP amount into bottle counts for shop pricing or quick top-ups.
- Do I lose all XP on death?
- You drop a small portion (up to 7 levels' worth as orbs) and lose the rest. On servers, keepInventory or plugins may change this - vanilla hardcore planning should assume the loss.
- What are the fastest XP sources?
- Enderman and guardian farms top the list, followed by classic mob farms, furnace arrays (smelting), breeding and fishing. The reference table shows typical per-action values to compare.
- How does enchanting consume levels?
- The enchanting table takes 1-3 lapis and 1-3 levels but requires up to level 30 to show the best enchants - staying above 30 and re-enchanting repeatedly is the efficient pattern. Anvil operations consume the displayed level cost entirely.
